As the UK experiences heatwaves of up to 30C in the capital, Londoners are scrambling to find ways to enjoy the outdoors.
Instead of searching for cheap flights out of the country, there’s a pristine lake just down the road.
St Andrews Lakes offers all the holiday feels without straying too far from London.
This crystal clear lake is so blue and sparkly, you could mistake it for a Mediterranean destination.
However, it is actually located in Halling in Kent.
This stunning blue lake is just a motorway trip away from London.
Formerly a chalk mining quarry, St Andrews Lakes has been transformed into a beautiful lake reserve, boasting 70 acres of bright blue water, sandy beaches, a wide range of water and land-based activities, and Kent’s largest inflatable aquapark.
At a depth of 30 metres, the lakes are ideal for diving, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and generally having a great time.
There are plenty of watersports to choose from in the area.
You can hire a small boat for a leisurely drift on the water, engage in some beach yoga, or even spend some time at the spa.
There is also a beach hut cafe for some post-activity refuelling and rehydrating.
It is the perfect staycation for those looking for a cheaper alternative to going abroad.
